“In May, 2007, Mateus finished second in the national Gibson Guitar Contest, in São Paulo. More than 750 pieces of recordings were sent to the Technology and Guitar Institute (IG&T, in São Paulo). Mateus turned out as one of the top 12 and played in São Paulo to conquer the second place in the contest, with his instrumental version of Samurai (Djavan). “In second place, Mateus Schäffer from São José (SC) played Samurai (Djavan). He showed technique and elegance, with Lee Ritenour-style prases. He also stood out for his swing and right-hand timing.
