I think sg, they are lighter, easier to play, have a much more practical design and have the sustain and beefy sound of the les paul but with a little more bite. Kinda like a cross between a telecaster and a les paul.

the sunburst strats don’t look amazing but they’re not hideous either but the looks and sound of the les paul are just nicer.

Some gibsons look better, i’ll give that, but there are some really beautiful strats. Then again, looks isn’t what it’s about. Here’s an example for sound, even though the camera sucks. My profile, the featured video.

That’s bias talking, not experience. I’ve played both, and while being n00b myself (admittedly) there’s so much more you can get from a strat. In every style of music, except for death metal. I’ve been able to meet and exceed the les paul with my strat in every style of music, even jazz. Maybe that’s because i’m primarily a jazz player, but it’s true. Strat and jazz? it can be done.
