How much would The Gibson Custom Shop charge you for them to make your own custom guitar?
If Bobby Krieger, Zakk Wylde, and Slash did it, why not us normal folks?
Prices at the custom shop depend entirely on what you want. And yes…everyday people like you and me can walk in (actually, you call and set up an appointment) and order a guitar. Just make sure you're ready to plop down five figures.
At $10,000, the might let you in the door.
Several years ago, Gibson had a "custom" guitar package where you not only designed the guitar, but they arranged for you to be at the factory the week your guitar was being assembled. The air fair was on you, but they picked up the hotel. The price tag for this? Only $50,000…about what I paid for my first house back in 1984!!!!.
So go ahead…call 'em up. With the downturn in the economy right now, they might wheel and deal a bit.
