I know Epiphone makes the LP bass but I'm not sure if Gibson makes one. To be honest, I would probably go with the Geddy Lee bass instead. It is a fantastic playing bass and will be great for all types on music. It is a little difficult to play funk style pop/slap due to the strings being very close together because of the slimmer neck. It's a fat sounding bass though. I'm actually gonna sell my Tobias bass at some point and go to the Geddy Lee bass, its a bad ass. Plus Geddy Lee is a bad ass bass player, gotta pay homage!!!! Do you have your heart set on a Gibson? I know Guitar Center carries some Epiphone Les Paul basses, you could check their site.
Same goes with Musicians Friend, it's a red Les Paul.
I would recommend you get a ESP LTD B-4E Bass Guitar. This guitar is an amazing deal, only 500$ on Musicians Friend, and it plays just as good as any Fender, if not better. Amazing guitar.
If money is no object, I would select the Schecter Stilleto Elite-4. This is 800$, but is so amazing. Diamond inlay on 12th fret, 24 jumbo frets, string thru bridge design. Very nice. But that's just my opinion. Hope I helped.

they don't make les paul basses anymore. they did in the 70's to 90's, so look for used...they look like the epiphone ones, which i don't recommend. if i had to recommend a bass to you, I would go with the kind of bass gedy lee plays actually. i believe its an american made fender jazz bass. not too hard to find, and they hold up forever as long as you dont throw it or anything

Well, I don't know about Les Pauls…. But you could check Musiciansfriend.com…. They have absolutely everything. So they're your best bet.

And as for the geddy lee bass… Anything Fender will be amazing. I own a strat, and wouldn't trade it for the world. It's amazing, and I've played their basses also, they're freaking incredible.
