“65 miles from Kalamazoo” Original song

65 Miles from Kalamazoo
Music and Lyrics by: R.J. Miller

Here a story and you know it is true
About my girl she’s an EB-2
No doubt she’s a gift from above
Gibson built her in the summer of love
She’s broke down so I got the blues
65 miles to Kalamazoo

They don’t make em like that no more
The plant closed down back in ‘84
Miles to go before I sleep
225 West Parsons Street
A heavy dose of deja vous
40 miles to Kalamazoo

Hollow body and she’s full of curves
Got a short and it splits my nerves
The guitar doctor is my new friend
I need to hold her in my arms again
Can’t play without her in tune
25 miles to Kalamazoo

Not long since I left my home
Call my wife on the telephone
Hey baby I wont be long
Without my girl there is no song
My car’s runnin’ low on fuel
10 miles to Kalamazoo

Rooster tail in the blowin snow
There’s a chill running through my bones
My fever meter readin’ 105
Can’t feel if I’m dead or alive
I’ve been a wise man I’ll be a fool
5 miles to Kalamazoo

In the mirror lights are flashing red
There’s a siren inside my head
The police is movin’ fast
Pullin’ over I hope they pass
Registration is overdue
15 miles from Kalamazoo

Been driving since zero fifteen
I’m in need of some pure caffeine
Use a crane to lift my head
Leave the dreamin’ for the bed
I’m held together with Elmer’s glue
30 miles from Kalamazoo

When I’m home and the day is done
She sounds sweeter than a cinnamon bun
With my girl I can do no wrong
Gonna play her all night long
Come on EB show em what you do
65 miles from Kalamazoo

“65 miles from Kalamazoo” a little diddy about my “old girl friend”, a ‘67 Gibson EB-2 Bass Guitar. She was constructed in the Gibson Kalamazoo plant that was closed in 1984. On a side note my wife pointed out to me that the song I wrote for her, “The Ballad of RJ and y K, wrapped up nearly 15 years of marriage in 5 verses, yet a song about my bass goes on for 8 verses and nearly 9 minutes. If you come up with a good excuse for me to use regarding this please email me so I can dig my way out of the dog-house. As usual the only real musical instrument used on this recording was my Hofnot bass which I layed down just a standard blues riff. Then I Distorted it out for the “Lead Guitbox riffs” My vocals are real though altered, as are the back-up vocals by “The Artist formerly know as “Student #11″ y K, Anna B Nana, and DLM. The rest of the song is 1’s & 0’s generated by computer programs and software. Please note: The stereo version of this on can be found on my
ACIDplanet Home page, a link for which can be found on my Youtube channel.
Produced by: The Department of Redundancy Department Productions.
