Fast Track Music Instruction has books on Guitar ,bass ,keyboards and drums, I got one for the bass and think it's really good . They start you out with the basics, ie, put this finger on this fret and that this note, it sounds cheesy but for me its been great. It also comes with a cd that you can play along to once you get past the basics. It shows you riffs scales and runs plus after a few lessons puts the notes you've learned into a song to get you playing and the songs are on the cd in either full instrumental or with the bass line or whichever instrument left out. I had a lot of fun with this. Plus they come in stages 1,2 and 3 .
References :
Learn the basic open chords. A and E are the two best to start with. Start with the A and E chords and just slowly switch between those two. After you can switch between those two chords, slowly add in the D chord, G chord, E minor chord, A minor chord, and C chord. With every new chord you learn practice strumming it and quickly changing the chords in time with your foot tapping. If your chord changes are not becoming instant, then youre not ready to learn new chords.
