What kind of guitar stand should I buy?

I have two guitars, a Gibson Explorer and a Jackson RR. i need a guitar stand that can fit those shapes. any sites and prices would be appreciated. thanks

Check out http://www.takeastandinc.com. On those stands, the guitar hangs so you should have no problem. You’re right though, any other guitar stand really doesn’t work too well.

Can someone identify this type of Gibson Les Paul guitar?

Hi, I’m a beginner at guitar playing and I’m looking for the description to the following guitar:

I know it’s a black Gibson Les Paul-type but does that guitar model have a certain name considering that it has a white outline around the body and neck?

In addition, is it still being sold?

It’s a Les Paul "Custom"

some were built with 3 pickups, but I think the owner installed the 3rd pickup, because the spacing isn’t even, like the real 3 pickup models

the pickups are definitely "aftermarket"

It is in good shape and played often.

Your best bet is to contact a vintage instrument dealer like Mandolin Brothers or Elderly Instruments. Make sure you have the exact model and serial number and lots of clear digital photos to send them.

Lefty gibson explorer look-a-likes?

Im a lefty so it is near impossible to get my dream guitar – a gibson explorer – since they only made a few back in the 80’s. Does anyone know of a guitar that looks like the gibson explorer that comes in a left handed version? I dont want a cheesy knockoff though, i want a good guitar (preferably $600 – $800) with a design similar to the explorer. thnx

EDIT: sorry buddy, it’s actually pretty hard to find. You might want to try building a guitar that fits you, not another Les Paul. Designing your own guitar would be pretty kick @ss.

Gibson vs. Epiphone (1958 Explorer) Guitar?

I want to buy an Explorer. Which is better: Gibson or Epiphone
I play mostly Metal music (Metallica, Slayer, etc) but i also like to play ballads and other stuff
And i dont have the money for a gibson. Should i save up? im only 14

In modern years (the last 30 really) Epiphone has become known for their cheap, copied versions of superior Gibson product. It is a sister company under the Gibson umbrella which actually does produce some of it’s on exclusive models that are quite nice but as far as the Gibson copies, (ie; Explorer, SG, Les Paul etc.) they are just cheap foreign versions made of poor sounding ply woods and inferior construction and electronics.
You’re much better off saving for a Gibson or other high grade US or Japanese made guitar. It will prove to be much more enjoyable, not to mention, much less frustrating to learn on.

Is this a real gibson les paul custom or just a rip off?

Hard to tell from the pictures, but the serial number checks out. That is a 1983 serial number. Pretty good price if it is what it says and it plays ok

Will a vintage,say early 70’s Gibson Les Paul Custom have any reliability problems compared to a new one?

I could buy a Gibson Les Paul Custom from the early 70’s,or I could get a new one.I was wondering if there was anyone out there who had experience with vintage guitars and their reliability(neck problems and the such).The guitar has to be tough enough to withstand everyday use and road use.Thanks

Les Pauls are renown for their durability. If it has been kept in good shape there should be no problems with playability. A early 70s Les Paul would be a great instrument and could be valuable too. If it is in good shape I would prefer the old one over the new one

I always thought custom meant that the item has to be made to the individual customer’s exact specs.

But there are a lot of things that say custom that are just hand built or not massed produced like gibson custom guitars.

You are right in your definition of "custom". The use of the word to describe a mass or even limited production item is purely a marketing ploy. Custom does mean made to a single customer’s specs.
