Guitar dimensions of a Gibson SG?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

What is the longest length, widest width and the depth of a Gibson SG guitar… im assuming the width is 1 3/4"… so im really looking for the hiehgt and width. (be as sexact as possible or round up to the nearest inch, because i need a block of wood large enough to make it, but not to big.. as it would cost to much)

The width and length of an SG body has changed over the years but here are some dimensions for reference. According to my notes the width of a 1961 SG is 13 1/2 inches at the widest point and 17 inches long. I also just happen to have an almost new 2008 SG in the shop which measures 13 1/8 inches wide by 16 3/4 inches long.

Gibson SG or an ESP guitar?

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Hi all who red this question, I am planning on getting a new guitar, and after some research I had two options, the first, a Gibson SG, the second option, get an ESP.

My question is which one should I get, and with the ESP the reason there is no specific model is because I would like you to say which ESP guitar you would recommend I get, if you think ESP guitar is better and choose it for your answer.

Thanks, JBBA

my personal opinion is that gibson are overpriced and esp are not brilliant, i would personally recommend an ibanez, but it all depends onn your budget, but if you are set on getting a gibson sg or an esp i would get an esp ltd f-2E

would you mind telling me your budget and what type of music you play so that i can give you a recommendation that would suit you more specifically

Does this look like a good deal for a Gibson SG style guitar hero playstation 2 skin?

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Is this a good price for a skin? And does that look like a Gibson SG. Is the Seller trustworthy? I haven’t experience ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250223473652&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

That is a decent deal for a skin, since the seller is quoting a normal retail price of $12.99 vs the $7 price that it’s selling for ($5 for item, $2 for shipping & handling USA). The seller has a high amount of previous feedback with a high rating, so it’s a pretty safe bet on that side. Mind you nothing is 100% ’safe’, but with all that positive feedback with a high rating. It looks pretty good (unless the account was just hacked)… anyhow, you can always complain to Ebay if the deal somehow goes awry. This was probably an overstock item which someone wants to just sell off. If I needed something like that or just wanted it (being honest here), I’d buy it. =)

What guitar should i get, Gibson SG or Epiphone Les Paul?

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Both are around the same price and im not sure which one is better for rock/alternative/some metal/some grunge. Is a gibson better even if its an sg?

If you have the money go for an SG.
Personally I’d go to your local music store and try both and see waht feels and sounds best to you. Never buy a guitar without trying it first.

On a 3 pickup Gibson SG guitar, what is the function of each knob?

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

On a 3 pickup Gibson SG guitar, what is the function of each knob? I think the model is an SG – 400 (actually it is an Epiphone remake). I’ve checked the Gibson page, and the mention the standard layout, and 3 knob layout, but alas, not 3 pickup.
…Actually the guitar has 4 knobs. I understand on a 2 pickup it would have 2 volume, 2 tone (for each pickup). Not sure how this works with 4 knobs though. Oh, and the switch is a 3 way.
Thks

it will have a 3 way switch . one way for the bridge pickup , middle for all 3 and the other way for the neck pickup. the knobs are one volume and one tone and they adjust in the same way the switch work. one for the bridge and the other for the neck.

Is it possible to put Gibson P90s in a Gibson SG Standard Guitar?

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

I really like the sound of Gibson P90s and I was just wondering if it is possible to put Gibson P90 single coils into an SG standard with 490R and 498T humbucker pickups in it.

yea those wont fit into stadard humbucking slots
I use a seymour suncan phat cat p-90 in the bridgewhich is a p-90 but fits into any humbucker size guitar
sounds freakin awesome
would definetly reccommend it and they are cheaper than gibson’s

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

My dad had a Gibson SG Special guitar back in the 70’s that he sold for almost nothing. I was wondering how much its worth these days. You can estimate, I dont need the EXACT price.

Is the Gibson Maestro SG Signature Series a good guitar?

Friday, May 1st, 2009

I'm a novice at guitar, and was looking for my first electric.
On my searches, I came across a Gibson Maestro SG Signature Series. I don't know much about manufacturers of guitars, but I heard Gibson was a good make.
Would this be a good choice of guitar?
If not, are there any alternatives?

Thanks for reading :)

The maestro SG is a great guitar!
However you can expect to shell out 3,000 or more for one.

I have a standard epiphone G-400 SG and its really good.
It was only $400.00
But I recommend looking at schecter. They have sexy guitars and are worth the price, I recommend getting a guitar with a floyd rose tremolo.
I Want one so bad!!!!

Check out Schecter, Ibanez and Epiphone for great guitars and better prices!
