Is Gibson Les paul good for hard rock and heavy metal music?

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Is Gibson Les Paul good for playing hard rock and heavy metal music? I play led zeppelin, acdc, pantera, metallica, megadeth and some Slayer.Does Gibson les paul guitars sound good for playing these kind of musics? Could you guys also tell me which one i should buy for those music? I mean like there’s standard classic studio and also the best pick up

If you can actually play all the stuff you just mentioned, you should know which type of guitar is best for you. The best guitar for playing metal is the guitar that feels best in your hands. Simple as that. You need strong pickups, good intonation, a comfortable neck, and proper amplification. Les Pauls offer all of those things, but might not be the right guitar for you simply based on preference.

What’s the heaviest guitar string that could be used on a Gibson Les Paul Studio without any setup?

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

I’m looking into buying Power Slinkys for playing in standard E tuning and drop C tuning but I’ve heard some string sizes might require you to get your guitar setup differently. Will Power Slinkys be safe for a Gibson Les Paul Studio without any additional work on the guitar?

I’ve been using Super Slinkys and so far they’ve worked okay… except they tend to break more than I’d like >.<

you shouldnt have to get your guitar set up differently. The only thing that might make a difference is the bridge. i cant believe your askign this when you have a 1300$ guitar lol. okay so idk why you even want anything too heavy. i recomend like a .09 thats a medium. you could fit heavy strings on there also… but its not really necessary.

Difference between Gibson or Epiphone Les Paul Electric Guitar?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

I know very little about guitars.. I am meeting Les Paul next week and and want to buy a guitar for him to sign and then I will mount it on my wall for display. I have been looking on eBay for Les Paul Guitars. There are Les Paul guitars some which are marked Gibson and some marked Epiphone. My friend said to get the ‘Gibson Les Paul’ over the Epiphone. Since this is for collecting, will it make a difference?

If you’re buying a guitar purely for signing and will never play it again there’s no sense spending what will likely be twice as much if not more on it. In fact when people buy guitars specifically for the purpose of getting them signed they tend to buy cheaper guitars because you never want to play a signed or anything of the like. There’s a big difference between the two but if you’re not planning to play the guitar it makes no difference to you and you should just save yourself the money and buy the epiphone

I have recently purchased a brand new Gibson Les Paul Jr Guitar and i am in need of a new amp.?

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Any suggestions of what amp would partner well with that guitar I want and all tube combo or half stack for under AU$2000 (if possible). the guitar is brand new so it has the stock Gibson P-90 single coil. I play mostly Guns N Roses – JET style rock.

I’d say a Marshall amp, or a VOX
A Peavey Vypyr 100w Tube amp would be a great choice as well. It has some massive sound, and a LOT of effects.
Hope i could help =]

Gibson Les paul custom guitar says promotional not for resale on headstock, whats that all about?

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I have a Gibson Les Paul which I bought back in 1997 second hand, It says on the back of the head stock, Promotional Not for Resale. Can anyone please tell me what that is all about? Does it mean that its not a genuine Gibson?

Hi

You’re not alone. Check this link…

Apparently "Promotional" guitars were used for trade shows, although it seems your guitar is a genuine Gibson.

what kind of gibson les paul guitar should i get?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

for example an expensive one, a cheaper one…. one that plays rock mainly….. give me ideas

take a look at some epiphone les pauls alot cheaper with almost as good quality

also what do you mean that plays rock mainly? i would bet that nearly every electric guitar ever made by gibson is suited to rock :D

Why are Les Paul Gibson guitars so much more than Les Paul Epiphones?

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I have always wondered this. They look the same. Feel the same. Sound the same. I want to know why the Gibson is just so much more expensive??

Epiphones are made in China/Korea. Gibsons are made in the USA.

This is for all guitar players !!!! Can I put fender strings—09’s- on my les paul-gibson?

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

I would like to know if I can use fender string-fender bullets-on my gibson-les paul guitar?

Yes, but they wont sound good. Les Pauls do much better with .10s or thicker. .09s are just too thin and takes away some of the rich tone you get out of genuine gibson.

Will a gibson les paul studio guitar fit in an epiphone les paul case?

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

I’m just wondering whether my guitar will fit in this epiphone case.

Yes, it will. the Epi actually was probably slightly thicker from top to back than the LP Studio, so it should be fine.
