Epiphone Flying V vs. Gibson SG Special?
Friday, November 27th, 2009I’ve been thinking about what guitar i should get for christmas, and i narrowed it down to either one of those two. They both have their advantages, but i’m really torn between them both.
Which should i get?
I don’t like Flying V’s, even when they are Gibsons. That’s just my taste of course. People who play them swear by them. Now, as far as the ANY Epiphone vs a Gibson SG, there is no comparision. An SG is one of the finest guitars ever made. Has the sound and feel of a Les Paul, but it’s lighter and I think it just "fits" better when you play it. I love the thin body and the neck. And the sound is still that classic Gibson sound. I’m not saying that Epiphones are garbage. They are a nice option for a good guitar at a lower price. They share many Gibson design elements and electronics. But they are not Gibsons. And even amongst Gibsons, there is little that really compares with a nice SG.
