What type of pick-ups did James Hetfield use in his old Gibson Flying V copy?

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

You know, the white one used in the band’s earliest days… If you know the amp model or the pedal he used, any of that equipment used in the Mustaine – "Kill"/"Ride" days, please let me know.
No, he didn’t use EMG 81/60’s in his white V.

EMG 81
EMG 60

EDIT: Ok, I don’t know then… that’s what it said though.

Where can I buy a Gibson Flying V 90?

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

I’m looking for a site which sells discontinued guitars or one which sells the Gibson Flying V 90. This guitar has 24 frets which is why I’m interested. I’m not bothered about The Holy V and Annihilation V. Thanks

Ebay is probably your best option.

My dad has alot of luck finding very nice and authentic guitars by looking through craigslist. If you know what your looking for, its a great way to get discontinued guitars.

my uncle gave me an old flying V gibson epiphone guitar and i want to use its serial to figure out its model?

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

the serial number is JC99020097 i just want to know the specific model of it and i cant find it anywhere else

check here

I couldn’t tell if it was manufactured in Japan or China in February 1999 and its manufacturing number was 0097
Now that I think about it
it may had been a Japanese costume model or Japanese Casino or whatever

in model don’t know, sorry =/

How many Gibson Flying V New Centuries were made?

Which is better, a Gibson Les Paul Junior or a Flying V?

Friday, February 19th, 2010

My brother wants to get a new guitar and, after narrowing it down to these two, can’t decide. I’ve seen them both. Please include the pros and cons of your choice.

Les Paul Junior

Pros: -One volume and tone knob so you don’t have to go in-depth in trying to find your sound (unless he’s a tone-junkie)
- Very light in weight compared to a Les Paul.
- One P-90 pickup (crunchy, rock/blues tone)
- Cheap, compared to a Les Paul
- Comfortable to hold

Cons: – One P-90 pickup (it depends on your brother.. He might like more tone)
——————————-

Flying V

Pros: – Cool body design
- Great sound (Humbuckers, A.K.A two "rock" pickups)
- Easy access to the entire neck

Cons: – Somewhat of an uncomfortable body design (Especially if sitting down)
- Costs more (I think) than a Junior

That’s what I think of ‘em anyways..

Should I buy this used Gibson Flying V from GC?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

I can play a lot of Metalica, I’m good at guitar. I already have an Epi Les Paul standard and a KH-202. The Faded V is $499, its used at Guitar Center. The strings aren’t brand new (expected), but the fretboard on the neck looks sorta worn out. Well not worn out, maybe a little dirty. If I cleaned it would it clear up? I just don’t know about this guitar. I played it twice, but it was a V so I couldn’t get the full feel without standing up, (it didn’t have a strap.) Can anyone give me some insight, thanks.

I would recommend playing it standing up and being comfortable but since you played it already and didn’t find anything immediately wrong with it, I’d say go for it. If the neck was tweaked or the frets were sharp or it had shorts, etc, you would have discovered it already.

The neck will clean up easy, especially if you plan on doing a string change on it anyway.

Go buy the damned thing.

what is a gibson flying v good for playing?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

i’m getting a Gibson Flying V in a few days and i wanted to know if there was a certain genre(s) tht the v is good for playing.

everything, great blues guitarists (one thats really worth note, but his name escapes me) have used them, Jimi hendrix did for his bluesy psyche-rock
and a multitude of metal guitarists use them,

Do you think Gibson flying Vs are cool?

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

I’m looking to get a really nice cheap flying v I found locally but some peole say they look weird. What do you think? Should I get it?

I’m a tenage girl btw so take that in note when you answer. I don’t know if you have opinions of if they look ok for some people or not. It’s a cherry red 67′ reissue. i prefer strats and think they look nicer but this is a really good price and has some nice features so…

Flying V’s look cool. The only downside is they are difficult to play if you are sitting down.

Jackson King V Demmelition or Gibson Flying V?

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Right im getting a new guitar i play nothing but metal hah! So i’m lloknig for the perfect metal guitar its mainly out of these two but llet me know of any other awesome metal guitars and i will take it on board! + would the Gibson need a lot of modding for example, new pickups like emg’s?

Gibson Explorer or V. Like the first poster said, get a good amp. Marshall, Randall, Krank, etc.
