Gibson SG Supreme vs Gibson Les Paul Custom?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I am really close to my decision. these are the guitars that i prefer. i decided to choose between these two guitars because My friend said that Gibson SG Supreme is better for Led Zeppelin, Green Day stuff than Gibson Les Paul Custom. this will be my last question if answered nicely and full of details.

well both are great choices. i think i would probably go with the sg simply because it would be a little lighter for playing for a long period of time. either one would have excellant sound for what you want but as you know you can always get a pedal to change for a wider sound. all in all i think i would definately go with the sg just for the fact i think it will meet your needs a little better than the les paul. the les paul is so bulky that you may get tired sooner if you play for long periods of time especially if you are only going to have one guitar. gibson also has the sg supreme under the epiphone label of theirs that might save you some money. you might also check it out. hope this helps a little. have fun with your new toy and keep rockin’!

Gibson ES 335 vs Gibson Les Paul Custom?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I am really close to my decision. these are the guitars that i prefer. i decided to choose between these two guitars I added ES-335 because My friend said that Gibson ES 335 is more suitable for Led Zeppelin, Green Day stuff that Gibson Les Paul Custom. this will be my last question if answered nicely and full of details.

They are both suitable, but a Les Paul is more appropriate for the style of music you like.

However, I would get the ES, as it is more versatile and will allow you to branch out to different musical styles as you grow up and gain wider interests.

question about gibson guitars final?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

im srry that i cannot keep my words. im told by my parents that i can get a les paul so what should i go for:
Gibson Les Paul Supreme
Gibson Custom SG Standard Reissue VOS
i play alternative/pop rock/ modern Punk rock/Led Zepplin stuff

my suggestion to you is to go somewhere like guitar center and look at them in person and see which one is going to be best suited for what you want to play. also go with the one that feels the best to you. i have two epiphone guitars (gibson) one is a 1958 corina flying v reissue sp ed, and a explorer that i bought early 80’s. i love both of them because they fit my hand great. just find your best fit and you’ll be great. lots of luck!
EDIT: by the way gibson had the les paul and the sg guitars also under their epiphone name. might save you some cash. thought you might want to know. basically the same lower cost. again best of luck and have fun. rock on

Questions on Gibson and Fender Guitars?

Friday, February 5th, 2010

I am thinking of buying a realiable guitar, which I found out to be Gibson or Fender. But what is the exact difference between the two other that the looks? What is the difference between Gibson Custom, Gibson Standard, and Gibson Studio? Specific details if you can please. Also, what is the fastest neck, what are the best pickups, and any other spec that might help me decide what to get. I have been playing guitar for three years now, but all I have is a Ibanez RG series.. I want to upscale. Thank you!

it is hard to decide on this not knowing what kind of music you play the most – here are some links with tons of info about both, you should really buy the guitar which is best suited for the music you play on it, these will help you to figure that out:

good luck to you :)

What is the diff between Custom and Studio?

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

I’m looking into buying a White Gibson Les Paul Guitar. I do understand that there are 2 different versions, custom and studio. Custom is much more expensive than studio, but I really see no difference? Is there much of one? I mean Studio alone goes for 800-1,400$ and Custom is normally around 3,000! So is there much of a difference?

Actually there are more models, including the Standard – probably the most used version of the Les Paul range. The Junior and Special are two other Les Paul models.

The reason why the Standard and Custom is more expensive is down to better and more expensive wood (the maple, mahogany, rosewood and some times ebony) and finishing touches such as bindings and hardware. If these things alone should give that great a price gap is another matter.

I suspect there’s also more manual labor involved in the higher priced items.

How much could a custom 1982 electrical Les Paul Gibson guitar with a hollow box be sold for?

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

It would depend on the cosmetic and electrical condition. You are probably talking about an ES 335 because LesPauls are solid bodies. I would be interested in buying if you can send me some photos.

What does it mean to have "Gibson" written on the truss rod of an Epiphone Les Paul Custom?

Monday, December 28th, 2009

I got this guitar from my dad. I am trying to find out what year it was made in, but the serial number was ripped off when i got it. I am trying to sell it and am wondering what price I could sell it at. It’s pretty old but is in really good condition.

Gibson is the manufacturer, Epiphone is the line and Les Paul is the collection. What you have is a copy of an original Les Paul, made of cheaper, more common wood. Prices start at about $150. 00 for a new model.
