Whats a good bass guitar company?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

i own an electric and acoustic and want to get my brother a bass…whats good for him? A fender? Gibson? i have no idea…links appreciated. Something unique would be cool, i love things that are different, but not expensive
whats a good price? hes a beginner

for a beginner, around $300. guitar companies make basses too, so yeah. u dont want to shell out 4 grand for a bass and he end up not likeing it. squire and epiphone make bass packs that come with a bass and a amp.

what a good metal tuner for the gibson thunder bird bass guitar?

Monday, August 17th, 2009

i have really gotten into playing the bass guitar and i think i should step up my playing to metal type music but i dont no what a good tuner is for it can some one tell me what brand?

I like the ones you clip on the headstock. They’re accurate and fold back when not in use. I have an IntelliTouch which works nicely and also one I found on eBay (Musedo T-23) which I also like.

What’s the closest thing to guitar center in Fargo, ND?

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

I may be doing some guitar/bass shopping down there and I’m wondering what the store with the biggest selection of Fender/Gibson/Epiphone instruments is, ie the closest thing to guitar center in Fargo. I’m hoping for somewhere with amps out so you can try the guitars.
I don’t want to buy online because I like going to GC and being able to actually feel how the guitar plays.

"Is that chyer friend there in the chipper?"

Can you please tell me what this metal thing is on this Gibson SG style bass guitar?

Can you please tell me what this metal thing is on this Gibson SG style bass guitar?

Thanks in advance…

sorry here is the link

It could also be a "string mute",as the EB-O bass,as used by Jack Bruce of Cream, had one when he first got it,but removed it because it got in his way.

Getting my first guitar, Is it good idea to get a hollow body?

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

I have been a bass player for a couple years but want to branch out and try some guitar. Bass is nice, but I think the guitar can take my music to a new level. I aspire to experiment with some blues and alternative rock.

From what I’ve tried, I like the tone and feel of Epiphone/Gibson guitars in general. The Epiphone Dot specifically is in my price range. I’d have to be very careful with her as it looks awful easy to ding it, but the guitar sounds and looks good to me. Also thought it might be bonus practicing if I can’t use an amp.

Anyone more experienced want to help me out with some advice? Thanks

Go for it. The Epiphone dot (or any quality "335" style guitar’s are very nice).
If you don’t abuse it – you will find that it is not overly delicate. It can stand being played.

What do you call the wrapper or the black cover used to cover guitar amps or guitar hardcases?

How can I convince my dad to let me buy a new bass guitar?

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

The guitar I want to buy is a Gibson GS Bass. The only problem my dad has with it is because the guitar costs £1300 has he says that it costs too much.
My mum has agreed to pay for half the cost and I can afford the other half but I can't withdraw the money from my bank account without my dad's permission.
How can I convince him to let me get this guitar? I'm so passionate about music and making music but whenever I say this to him he just laughs it off.
Has anyone got any ideas on how I can convince him otherwise?
Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated.
*Gibson SG

and ahahahaha I like that idea Husky Bean. ;)

Go get another job and don't put the money in your bank account. Then when u got enough, buy the guitar.

Yeah I know that ain't what u wanna hear, but it's about the best I could do based on what u gave for info.

any bass players out there **10 points for the best answer**?

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

I've been playing bass for about a year using my dads old Encore bass from, over 20 years ago http://www.bass-guitar-museum.com/uploads/bass/12/220136163476-1.jpg

(same type, just white pickguard)

and i want a new bass, i'm leaning towards a fender either a jazz bass $200, or the Geddy Lee (bassist/singer for Rush) signature bass $1,200 or the Persicion bass $800

what should i get?
or should i look into Gibson basses some?

please tell me which bass i should get

If you want a good quality instrument, it will cost you more then $200. The P bass is widely used by a ton of players, I personally don't care for them because of their bulky size. The Jazz is a bit more comfortable in my opinion and has a slightly thinner neck which will make playing a bit easier for you if you have small hands. You can`t go wrong with either the Jazz or the Precision as they are both very good. I would recommend going to a music store and trying both out to see which feels better to you and has the tone you are looking for. Hope this helps. As for the Gibsons, I personally never liked thier necks. I play a Schecter Stilletto Custom 5 and an Ibanez SR800. The Sheceter is absolutely amazing for the money. Very well built, beautiful neck and EMG pickups thatsound great. It was only $599. You should try one of these out as well, I think you will be impressed.

Any1 that plays guitar or bass! i need to know something!?

Do they make Gibson Les Paul BASS GUITARS? if so where can i get 1? and if they don't what is a good bass i was thinking about the signaure Geddy Lee (Rush bass player) bass [its fender]

where can i get a gibson les paul bass guitar

and if i cant is the geddy lee bass any good?

Hey
Do you have your heart set on a Gibson? I know Guitar Center carries some Epiphone Les Paul basses, you could check their site.
Same goes with Musicians Friend, it's a red Les Paul.
I would recommend you get a ESP LTD B-4E Bass Guitar. This guitar is an amazing deal, only 500$ on Musicians Friend, and it plays just as good as any Fender, if not better. Amazing guitar.
If money is no object, I would select the Schecter Stilleto Elite-4. This is 800$, but is so amazing. Diamond inlay on 12th fret, 24 jumbo frets, string thru bridge design. Very nice. But that's just my opinion. Hope I helped.
